Matte lipsticks are chic and classy and are so hot right now. Lost on what a matte lipstick is? Matte lipsticks are lipsticks that have a drier finish as opposed to the glossy lipsticks.

Even though matte lipsticks are chic, have a long wearing capacity and can transform your your look to instant classy, they have their downsides. They have a chalky and uncomfortable texture that highlights every imperfection on your lips.

A common example is the Mac lipstick; Ruby Woo that is so hot at the moment and almost always sold out at most stores.

To combat the downsides of this type of lipstick, try out these tips;

1. Exfoliate:

Cracks, flaking and dryness are highlighted by a matte lip colour. To make sure your lips are free from these, it’s advisable to use a lip scrub on your lips to achieve smooth and flake free lips. You can purchase a lip scrub at a beauty store.

2. Moisturize:

The aim is to prevent your lips from drying out and giving you a nice finish, no one is trying to convert it to a glossy lipstick. After exfoliating, apply a dab of non-greasy lip balm to your lips before the application of your lip colour.

3. Use a lip brush:

It is advisable to fill your lips with the bullet of the lipstick then use a lip brush to fill in the edges and add definition.

4. Blot:

Excess matte lip colour can look caked. Use a blotting paper instead of a tissue as the latter can leave off particles and ruin your perfect application.

I’m sure a lot of people are familiar with this famous saying. The first thing a lot of people notice about you is your smile and how white your teeth are… LOL

A major smile saboteur is a yellow or not-too-white teeth. It makes your confidence go down the drain and you become conscious of smiling, which is not good. Theres teeth whitening powder and toothpaste that you could get from a super market and there are also home remedies that can help give you a sparkling teeth.

Home Remedies For white teeth:

1. Banana and orange peels:

Bananas are filled with vitamins and minerals that are good for your general health. They can also be used to whiten teeth. Rub the inside of the peel twice daily on your teeth and watch your teeth go white with time. If bananas aren’t your favourite fruit,you can use the inside of an orange fruit, they work well as well.

2. Hydrogen Peroxide:

Hydrogen peroxide can be found in first aid boxes at home but if not,you can get it from a store/shop. Soak a cotton ball in peroxide and rub your teeth with it. The whitening power of the peroxide will help get rid of stains caused by coffee, tea, wine and so on.

3. Toothpaste mix:

Mix your favourite toothpaste with a teaspoon of baking soda, a teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide and half a teaspoon of water. Mix well, and use it to brush your teeth. Use twice daily for best results. When your teeth are white enough, limit usage to once a week.

It was another evening of glitz and glam at the 87th Academy Awards ceremony (Oscars 2015), presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as they honored the best films of 2014.

This award ceremony took place on February 22, 2015, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles. The award show was hosted by actor Neil Patrick Harris.
