Braid It-Style It.

Beauty: Braids Hairstyle.

First things first, you should knosharet braids are called different names. They are called loose braids, Poetic Justice braids or Single braids. Box braids are called so because of the pattern they form when parting your natural hair i.e square patterns. Any other pattern would probably be the poetic justice braids (which are usually jumbo sized) or your usual loose braids that vary in size and pattern. Okay..moving on.

Everyone likes box braids because they offer an excellent opportunity to extend one’s hair and wear versatile hairstyles which look exquisite and simple to achieve. Box braids also protect your natural hair and offer the benefits of low maintenance unlike weaves and hair extension.

Cute Updo/Doughnut:  This is a simple up-do that can be easily pulled off. It is both compact and elegant. Simply make a tighter wrap around a high ponytail and you get a perfect hairstyle to go with just about anything.

The Fishtail Side Bang: This braided hairstyle is really cute for work, weddings, school, parties…basically anywhere. You would only need a couple of bobby pins, some water in a spray bottle to keep your hair moisturised and please don’t forget not to make the braid too tight so you do not stress your roots.

The Braided MoHawk: You can be creative with it; like weave to the side instead of the centre or do twists instead of a braid…to add your own personal touch to it.

The Twisted Lady Style: You can twist your braids or front section off your face towards the back for a gracious and elegant look.

The Side Swept Bun: To achieve this look you need to section off some braids at the back of your head to make this amazing thick braid, elegantly wrapping around the left side of your forehead. Make a high bun out of the remaining braids.

Which of these braids style is your favourite?

Feel free to share some other braid styles below.

Making Your Perfume Last Longer.

How To’s: Making your Perfume Last Longer

Most ladies love perfumes. It gives off that feminine fragrance that ladies (and men) love. Perfumes can add an air of sophistication to a lady’s overall image.

The problem faced however by most perfume users and lovers is the fact the fragrance doesn’t last as long as they’d wish it would. After some hours or minutes it fades away and it becomes necessary to reapply or just go through the rest of the day like that.

There are some tricks that can make perfumes last longer and solve this annoying problem;

1. Moisturize:

The ideal time to spray your perfume is when you are fresh out of the shower and have moisturized, this is because when you shower with hot water, the steam from the shower opens up your pores and makes it better for the skin to absorb the perfume.

2. Apply to pulse points:

Your pulse points are the areas of your body where your heartbeat can be felt. These areas are warm due to the blood. Apply it to areas such as your wrists, the back of your ears, behind your knees, cleavage, elbow and so on as the heat liberated from these areas activates the fragrance.

3. Don’t rub:

Most of us are so used to rubbing on areas where we spray our perfumes especially our wrists. This is so wrong as the friction breaks the perfumes top notes and changes the scent or makes it duller.

4. Spray on your hairbrush:

This will definitely help solve some of the problems ladies face with smelly weaves. Spray some of the fragrance on your hair brush before you run it through your hair. This will make you have a whiff of your perfume each time your flip your hair.

5. Store your fragrances right: Certain environmental factors such as direct sunlight and extreme cold can distort them. So, store in a cool dry place like your closet.

Corporate Drapes-For The Love Of Pleats.

Corporate Drapes :For The Love Of Pleats.

Pleats are from the 90’s but they have somehow managed to stick around. This style is not generally accepted by all because it is believed that pleats don’t flatter figures and shapes. But they are wrong. Like every other thing fashionable, pleats come in different lengths, colours and styles.

Some of these styles include the box pleat, the foil pleat, hem pleats and so on. The rule to try them all and stick with that which works perfectly for your body shape, skin colour and height…obviously.

Most importantly, choose pleats that you love and feel confident and beautiful in. You can totally make them work for you as they are very versatile and can be worn for several occasions including work.

Wearing pleats to work
Here are some things to consider;

1. Accentuate your waist: It is essential to show off the waist band of this skirt otherwise you’ll just look shapeless. Showing off the waistband also gives you a slimming effect. So, whatever top you decide to wear with it should be tucked in.

2. Know what works for you: It is best to know the type of pleat that suits you. If you are curvy, go for a light weight pleat as this won’t add bulk to your hips. If you are not-so-tall, go with the styles that have a higher hemline in the middle as they won’t cut you off at the calve.

3. Heels: When wearing pleats to work, depending on the length of your piece, pair it with heels. This not only compliments your look, but also creates an illusion of height and class.

what are your thoughts on pleats? Please leave your answers by commenting below… xoxo

Aloe Vera-Things You Didn't Know.

DIY Make Up Remover.

It’s pretty amazing, but Aloe Vera is INSANELY beautifying! One of the best things my mom did was grow a huge stock of Aloe Vera plants outside our house making it super easy to hydrate skin and even create hair masks! One of the things I’ve been using more recently is a very natural and soothing aloe vera eye makeup remover! It helps remove ALL the makeup, dirt and oil that might be in areas that are a bit harder to clean and more importantly it just feels AhhhhMAZING!

To create this mix, I simply use equal parts Aloe Vera and Almond Oil. I mix them together in a small plastic bottle. The mixture is a bit funny in consistency, but before I use it, I just mix it really well. Then I saturate a cotton pad with the blend and just put them over my eyes for about 30 seconds. Then I start to clean the makeup off! This not only is super gentle and soothing, but it also helps de-puff eye bags and get rid of dark circles! I love this natural alternative that is beautifying as well as SUPER effective!! #awesomeness Aloe Vera-Health And Beauty Benefits.

Aloe Vera- Health And Beauty.

It is believed that Cleopatra – The Beauty Queen (68 BC) has kept her skin healthy with Aloe Vera gel, which at that time the powers of Aloe Vera were unknown

The mystic Aloe Vera has maintained her body skin healthy, shiny and the most importantly is that Aloe Vera was very useful for skin rejuvenation (because it stimulates the production of collagen in the skin).

This herb has been found between cosmetic preparations that was used by Cleopatra, so from there is the inspiration of today’s cosmetics.

DIY LIP-GLOSS.

**How To Make A DIY Lip-Gloss.

Here’s how to make a DIY lip gloss, which would make a perfect gift for the girls in your life, anytime, anywhere.  The best part about this lip gloss is the fact that a) you’re now a superstar for knowing how to make your own makeup, and b) the lip gloss is all kinds of natural: coconut oil, beeswax, essential oil?  What’s not to love?

So, you probably want to  know how to make this lip gloss already, yes?  Here’s the skivvy:

SUPPLIES* FOR HOW TO MAKE A DIY LIP-GLOSS

beeswax
coconut oil
essential oil
toothpicks (for stirring)
double boiler
cheap lipstick for lip-gloss color
small containers with screw on lids

STEP-BY-STEP:

Melt beeswax in a double boiler on high until completely melted.  When it’s completely melted, add coconut oil using a 2:1 ratio of coconut oil to beeswax (at least). I started out with 1/2 cup of beeswax and 1 cup of coconut oil.
Mix together until the beeswax and coconut oil are completely combined and have a thin, liquid consistency.
Using a dropper, grab some of the mix and squirt it out on a piece of wax paper.  When it has cooled down, test the lip gloss on your lips and see if it’s smooth or still has a waxy consistency.
If the lip gloss is perfect, you’re almost done.  Skip down a few steps.
If the lip gloss is waxy, you still have some work to do.
If you feel wax on your lips, add more coconut oil one tablespoon at a time until completely melted.
Test, mix, add, test.
When you’re completely satisfied with the texture, add a slice of lipstick (I used really cheap Wet n’ Wild .99 cent lip stick in a bright pink) and mix it in, until you’re satisfied with the color.  The lip stick isn’t actually going to make the lip gloss pink on your lips, unless you add a ton, but it’s pretty and will make the lip gloss more aesthetically pleasing.  So you should probably do it.
Now’s the time for your essential oil to shine.  I added about 15 drops of peppermint essential oil per batch (at least), but it’s totally up to you.  Make it as gloriously peppermint-y as you’d like.
Use the dropper to transfer the lip gloss from the pot to the containers, filling nearly to the top.
Repeat into separate jars until done, letting the lip gloss cool completely before screwing on lids.
Package and repeat.
This makes about 4-5 small containers of lip gloss.

SUPPLIES FOR PACKAGING:

*paper bags
*circle labels from Avery
*cupcake liners
*stamps
*baker’s twine
*stamps
*stamp pad.

I’m a fan of simple, inexpensive packaging so I packaged up the lip gloss using white paper bags.  Fold the top of the bag over and staple it down. Then layer decorative cupcake liners on top of one another and staple in the middle.  Stamp letters on the circle labels and stick to the bag.  Tie some baker’s twine around the top (if you want) and gift away.

Have fun learning how to make a DIY lip gloss.  Every girl in your life (especially you) will love you till the end of the day.
